Leadership Lessons Daily: Day 103

Scripture Passage: Numbers 27:18-21
A Leader’s Words Carry Power
With regards to the hand over between Moses and Joshua, God said concerning Joshua, “And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall ask counsel for him after the judgment of Urim before the Lord: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him, even all the congregation.” Take note of the phrase, “at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in.”
The lesson here is this; the words of a leader carry power. The Bible says that where the word of a king is there is power. Every word that proceeds from the mouth of a leader is backed by authority. The words of a leader also give direction. A leader’s words can make or break those he leads. Therefore, leaders must not be given to too many words and leaders must learn to choose their words carefully.
Prayer: Father, give me the grace to bridle my tongue.
