Leadership Lessons Daily: Day 110

Scripture Passage: Joshua 2:1;23
Wise Leaders Learn from the Mistakes of their Predecessors
Moses sent twelve spies to view Canaan. They returned to Moses and the entire congregation. The negative report of ten of the twelve spies planted fear in the hearts of the people and chaos arose in the camp. When Joshua sent out two men to spy out the land of Jericho, the Bible says, “So the two men returned, and descended from the mountain, and passed over, and came to Joshua the son of Nun, and told him all things that befell them.” They returned to Joshua; not Joshua and the congregation. Obviously, Joshua had learnt from Moses’ mistake.
The lesson here is this; wise leaders learn from the mistakes of their predecessors. While others criticise leaders for their mistakes, wise leaders learn from the same. Therefore, they never repeat the mistakes made by those before them. They walk in their predecessors’ foot prints but are wise enough to avoid the ditches.
Prayer: Father, help me to learn from the mistakes of my predecessors.
