Leadership Lessons Daily: Day 116

Scripture Passage: Joshua 6:16-17
Good Leaders Honour Their Word
The two men sent by Joshua to spy the city of Jericho were aided by Rahab. She entered into an agreement with them that when Israel invaded Jericho, her life and the lives of her family members, would be spared. The spies were representing Joshua, their leader, who sent them. When they entered into this covenant with Rahab, it was on Joshua’s behalf. Joshua honoured that word. When Israel invaded Jericho, he said, “Only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.”
The lesson here is this; good leaders honour their word. They honour the words that proceed from their mouths and they go a step further to honour the words spoken on their behalf. Those who have dealings with them trust them, and know that they can take their word at face value.
Prayer: Father, give me grace to honour my word.
