Leadership Lessons Daily: Day 118

Scripture Passage: Joshua 9:1-19
Leaders Must Have Discernment
When the inhabitants of Gibeon heard what Joshua had done to Jericho and Ai, they decided to form a league with the children of Israel. They visited Joshua and lied that they had come from a far country. They showed Joshua their dry and mouldy bread claiming it had been fresh when they began their journey days before. Everything they said was a lie but because Joshua relied only on what his physical eyes could see and his physical ears hear, he made a grave mistake and entered into a league with them.
The lesson here is this; leaders must have discernment. Not everything is as it appears to be and so leaders require more than their physical eyes and ears when making decisions. A discerning leader is a wise leader and possesses good judgement.
Prayer: Father, give me discernment.
