Leadership Lessons Daily: Day 154

Scripture Passage: 1 Samuel 2:22-25; 3:1; 3:11-14
Leadership Begins at Home
Eli was the last but one judge in Israel. In his days, the word of the Lord was precious and there was no open vision. His sons were evil with no regard for him. The Bible says, “notwithstanding they hearkened not unto the voice of their father.” And God said, “I will judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he knoweth.” He failed to lead his home and so it is little wonder that he failed woefully as Israel’s leader.
The lesson here is this; leadership begins at home. The leader who fails to lead at home will ultimately fail to lead outside his home. And the leader who will successfully lead outside his home is the one who has succeeded in leading at home. Too many leaders try to lead outside their home when they have not succeeded in leading at home. If your family won’t hearken to you why should anyone else?
Prayer: Father, teach me to successfully lead at home.
