Leadership Lessons Daily: Day 157

Scripture Passage: 1 Samuel 8:1-7
When the Leader Fails at Home the People Lose Confidence in His Leadership Ability
Samuel was a great leader but the Bible says; “his sons did not walk in his ways, but turned aside after lucre and took bribes, and perverted judgement.” Hence, the people rejected him and asked for a king. Thus bringing an end to the era of judges in Israel.
The lesson here is this; when the leader fails at home the people lose confidence in his leadership ability. Therefore, they reject him. It is imperative then, that a leader is able to lead successfully at home. The man who wants to lead others must have a proven track record of success in leading his wife and children. And they indeed are a proof that he is either a good leader or a bad one. I only have to meet a man’s wife and children to determine what kind of leader he is.
Prayer: Father, help me lead successfully at home so that my leadership ability is not questioned.
