Leadership Lessons Daily: Day 158

Scripture Passage: 1 Samuel 9:3-6; 10:1-2
Those Who Press on in the Face of Defeat Usually Find More than they Seek
Saul went out seeking his father’s lost asses. He got to the land of Zuph and decided to return as it appeared his journey had been futile. His servant however, encouraged him to press on and when he did, he found the lost asses and a throne. Samuel said to him, “Is it not because the Lord hath anointed thee to be captain over his inheritance? ….The asses which thou wentest to seek are found.” He found more than he sought.
The lesson here is this; those who press on in the face of defeat, usually find more than they seek. They also find that they were on the verge of their breakthrough. At Zuph, Saul was in the place where he would find the asses and his destiny as king of Israel. But it was at Zuph that he decided to return.
Prayer: Father, help me to press on in the face of defeat.
