Leadership Lessons Daily: Day 159

Scripture Passage: 1 Samuel 9:21; 10:17-24
Insecure Leaders Go Into Hiding
Saul was a leader who was insecure; he lacked confidence, he was uncertain and very anxious. When Samuel revealed that he would be king, he said, “Am not I a Benjamite, of the smallest of the tribes of Israel? And my family the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? Wherefore then speakest thou so to me?” When it was time for Samuel to present him to Israel as their king, he went into hiding and another sign that he was insecure and lacked confidence.
The lesson here is this; insecure leaders go into hiding. This is mainly because they lack confidence and certainty to face people and challenges that confront them. They are pre-occupied with how people view them and fear their decisions will displease others. Hence they hide to refrain from making decisions and taking action. Are you hiding?
Prayer: Father, help me to come out of hiding.
