Leadership Lessons Daily: Day 161

Scripture Passage: John 6:64; 6:70 & Matthew 26:34
Good Leaders Are Students of Those They Lead
Jesus was a leader who clearly knew those He led. The Bible says, “For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.” On one occasion He said to His disciples, “Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?” And on the night He was betrayed He said to Peter, “Verily I say unto thee, that this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.” How did He know all this? He studied those He led.
The lesson here is this; good leaders are students of those they lead. As a good student learns his subjects so good leaders learn about members of their team. Hence they are aware of the strengths and weaknesses of each person and are able to place them where they can function best.
Prayer: Father, help me to study those I lead.
