Leadership Lessons Daily: Day 167

Scripture Passage: 1 Samuel 15:1-15 Weak Leaders are Quick to Point Accusing Fingers at Others Saul was instructed to destroy Amalek completely. However, he failed to carry this task out to the letter. When confronted by Samuel, he said, “They have brought them from the Amalekites; for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen, to sacrifice unto the Lord thy God…” Notice that Saul was quick to make the people responsible for his failure to lead. As leader he was in charge and should have insisted on the total destruction of Amalek. The lesson here is this; weak leaders are quick to point accusing fingers at others. Somehow they manage to find someone to hold responsible for their errors. Nothing is ever their fault, it is always the fault of others. When leaders fail to accept responsibility for their wrong actions, it is a sign of weakness. Leaders require a strength of character to accept their errors. Prayer: Father, give me the strength to accept my mistakes and not blame others.
