Leadership Lessons Daily: Day 187

Scripture Passage: 1 Samuel 22:1-2
People Seek Out and Follow Leaders Stronger than Themselves
As David ran from Saul, the Bible says, “David….escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father’s house heard it, they went down thither to him. And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them…..” These men wanted a solution to their predicament and joined themselves to David because they saw in him their desired change.
The lesson here is this; people seek out and follow leaders stronger than themselves. John C. Maxwell calls this, “The Law of Respect”. People require direction out of life’s calamities that only a man or woman with personal experiences can provide. Hence, when people seek out a leader to follow it will be one who has experiences and demonstrates knowledge that they require but do not possess.
Prayer: Father, give me the grace to use my experiences to help others.
