Leadership Lessons Daily: Day 188

Scripture Passage: 1 Samuel 22:7-18
Weak Leaders Destroy Those They Lead
When Saul learned that the priest, Ahimelech, had had contact with David and provided for him, the Bible says, “And the king said to Doeg, turn thou, and fall upon the priests. And Doeg the Edomite turned, and he fell upon the priests, and slew on that day fourscore and five persons that did wear a linen ephod.” He was truly a blood thirsty leader.
The lesson here is this; weak leaders destroy those they lead. They are people with low self-esteem who place no value on their lives, therefore they place no value on the lives of others. Rather than add value to others, weak leaders subtract whatever value was there to begin with, leaving those they lead, less than they met them. And if they have to waste lives, they do it without a second thought. Weak leaders love things; e.g. money, fame and position. And they use people to acquire them.
Prayer: Father, help me love myself so that I may love others.
