Leadership Lessons Daily: Day 190

Scripture Passage: 1 Samuel 23:1-5
Great Leaders Ask Great Questions to Gain Clarity and Assurance
When news reached David that the Philistines had invaded the city of Keilah, he asked God a question, “Shall I go and smite these Philistines?” Although God told him to go his men were afraid, they said, “Behold we be afraid here in Judah, how much more if we then come to Keilah?” And the Bible says, “Then David inquired of the Lord yet again. And the Lord answered him and said, arise, go down to Keilah; for I will deliver the Philistines into thine hand.” Only then did David and his men go forth.
The lesson here is this; great leaders ask great questions to gain clarity and assurance. And not just for themselves but for those they lead. They recognise that without clarity, visions remain fuzzy. And fuzzy visions lead to fuzzy actions. They understand that assurance promotes confidence which is key to success.
Prayer: Father, help me to seek clarity and certainty in all my ways.
