Leadership Lessons Daily: Day 206

Scripture Passage: 2 Samuel 5:18-25
Wise Leaders Take Nothing for Granted
The Bible says, “The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim. And David enquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? And the Lord said unto David, Go up…..and David came to Baalperazim, and David smote them there….and the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim. And when David enquired of the Lord, he said, Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees….and David did so, as the Lord had commanded him; and smote the Philistines….”
The lesson here is this; wise leaders take nothing for granted. They never assume that the strategy that worked the last time will work this time. They do their homework to ensure they do not suffer defeat. They know it is possible for a strategy that worked yesterday to fail today.
Prayer: Father, help me to take nothing for granted.
