Leadership Lessons Daily: Day 214

Scripture Passage: 2 Samuel 15:13-16
Wise Leaders Know When to Flee
As soon as David heard that the hearts of the men of Israel had been turned after Absalom, the Bible says, “And David said unto all his servants that were with him at Jerusalem, arise and let us flee; for we shall not else escape from Absalom; make speed to depart, lest he overtake us suddenly, and bring evil upon us, and smite the city with the edge of the sword.” David was a mighty man of valour but he knew he could not face Absalom and win without proper preparation; therefore he fled.
The lesson here is this; wise leaders know when to flee. They realise that sometimes one must run away so as to live to fight another day. Not every day is a good day to fight and especially when one is not prepared and has no chance of winning.
Prayer: Father, give me wisdom to know when to flee.
