Leadership Lessons Daily: Day 216

Scripture Passage: 2 Samuel 18:1-3
One Good Leader is Worth Ten Thousand Followers in Value
David’s mighty men would not let him go with them to war. As soon as he indicated his intention to do so, they said, “thou shalt not go forth: for if we flee away, they will not care for us; neither if half of us die, will they care for us: but now thou art worth ten thousand of us….”
The lesson here is this; one good leader is worth ten thousand followers in value. The reason is simple; he bears the vision which gives direction to all, and indeed all who follow him would be lost without it. The well-being of many is tied to the leader, therefore, the leader cannot afford to be careless with his own well-being.
Prayer: Father, help me to know my worth as a leader and act accordingly.
