Leadership Lessons Daily: Day 225

Scripture Passage: 1 Kings 3:5-10
Wisdom is a Prerequisite for Good Leadership
Solomon was given a rare opportunity to ask for anything he desired and he chose to ask for wisdom. He said to the Lord, “And now, O Lord my God, thou hast made thy servant king…..and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in. And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude. Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad….”
The lesson here is this; wisdom is a prerequisite for good leadership. The leader who will make sound decisions that advance his people will require wisdom. However, he must recognise, the importance of wisdom to his success as a leader and his lack of it. Only then will he be able to ask for and receive wisdom from God, the ultimate leader.
Prayer: Father, give me the wisdom required to lead well.
