Leadership Lessons Daily: Day 233

Scripture Passage: 1 Samuel 25:1-35
Great Women Take Great Risks
When Nabal disregarded David’s act of kindness towards his herdsmen and sheep and blatantly refused to return the favour, David decided to destroy his entire household. When Abigail heard this, she did not run for cover as expected. She took provision and hurried to meet David. She set out to meet an enemy who was bent on destroying everything that belonged to Nabal, including Abigail. Abigail was taking a great risk in confronting David and she knew this. However, she understood that if she could pacify him it would be a risk well worth it.
The lesson here is this; great women take great risks. And they do this for the good of others and not necessarily for themselves. For many years, great women have risked their lives, social status, reputation, etc., to mediate for others unable to so for themselves. Great women go to great lengths to defend the weak and speak out for the voiceless.
Prayer: Father, give me the courage to stand up for others.
