Leadership Lessons Daily: Day 266

Scripture Passage: Ezra 7:10
Leaders Do Before they Teach
Ezra was a scribe and a leader in Israel. The Bible says concerning him, “For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgements.” Notice that Ezra prepared his heart to seek the law and do it, then teach it. He did not prepare his heart to seek the law and teach it which is what unfortunately many do today. They are not leaders.
The lesson here is this; leaders do before they teach. Leaders take others where they have been themselves. They share with others principles they have practised and practise which work for them. Leaders should really not be teaching any principle unless they have first practised same. And leaders should only teach what they practise. Jesus, in my opinion, was the greatest leader that ever lived and He began to do and teach (Acts 1:1). This is credibility.
Prayer: Father, make me a credible person.
