Leadership Lessons Daily: Day 268

Scripture Passage: Joshua 24:1-15
Leaders Take a Stand on Behalf of Those They Lead
In his farewell speech to the children of Israel, Joshua said, “And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua was first a leader in his home and he decided on behalf of his family, that they would serve God. He was exercising his privileges as a leader.
The lesson here is this; leaders take a stand on behalf of those they lead. They take charge of their immediate environment and determine the happenings there. They pass on their visions, values and philosophies to those around them and declare what will or will not be permitted within their sphere of influence.
Prayer: Father, help me to take a stand for what is right.
