Leadership Lessons Daily: Day 271

Scripture Passage: 2 Samuel 21:1-6
Bad Leaders Make Decisions that Have Far Reaching Consequences for Those They Lead
During Saul’s reign as king of Israel, he slew the Gibeonites contrary to the vow Israel had made with them during Joshua’s time. As a result, of this sin against the Gibeonites, there was famine in the land. When David called the Gibeonites to ask how they would be appeased, they said, “let seven men of his sons be delivered unto us, and we will hang them up unto the Lord in Gibeah of Saul.” And thus seven of Saul’s sons lost their lives. When Saul decided to kill the Gibeonites, that decision had far reaching consequences for his immediate family and the nation of Israel.
The lesson here is this; bad leaders make decisions that have far reaching consequences for those they lead. Their decisions spell doom for those connected to them and this is in most cases long after their demise. And sometimes the consequences persist for generations.
Prayer: Father, help me to make wise choices and right decisions.
