Leadership Lessons Daily: Day 277

Scripture Passage: Nehemiah 1:1-11
Leaders Are a People of Compassion
Nehemiah lived in comfort but was concerned with the state of his brethren in Jerusalem. One time he had visitors from Jerusalem and he immediately enquired about the Jews that had escaped and about Jerusalem. Unfortunately, his visitors had some bad news, the walls of Jerusalem had been broken down and the walls burned with fire. And the Bible says, “And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven.” This is compassion.
The lesson here is this; leaders are a people of compassion. The sufferings of others move them to action. True leaders are unable to see others in distress and not be moved with compassion. Jesus is the greatest leader that walked the face of the earth and He is also the most compassionate person that ever walked the face of the earth.
Prayer: Father, help me to be compassionate.
