Leadership Lessons Daily: Day 285

Scripture Passage: Esther 3:1-6
The Promotion of a Foolish Leader is Usually His Destruction
The Bible says concerning Haman, “After these things did King Ahasuerus promote Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes that were with him.” Promotion is a good thing. However, Haman’s promotion led to an ambition to annihilate the Jews. This ultimately led to Haman’s destruction.
The lesson here is this; the promotion of a foolish leader is usually his destruction. Whenever a fool is promoted, his destruction is in view. This is because fools cannot handle any form of advancement without revealing their foolishness and subsequently creating problems for themselves. Their promotion usually brings about their destruction. In my opinion, the higher one goes in life, the humbler they ought to become. The reason being that foolishness and pride go together whereas wisdom can only be obtained by the humble.
Prayer: Father, help me to be humble that foolishness and destruction may be far from me.
