Leadership Lessons Daily: Day 291

Scripture Passage: 2 Kings 2:1-15
Leaders Who Remain Focused Will Eventually Find What They Seek
As Elisha made one final journey with Elijah, he sought a double portion of the spirit of Elijah, his departing master. He refused to be distracted by Elijah who tried severally to dissuade him from continuing the journey and by the sons of the prophets. Finally, when he voiced his desire to Elijah, he was informed that he had asked a hard thing but would get it if he saw Elijah when he was caught up. He required absolute focus to get his desire and Elisha remained focused. He returned as Elijah’s successor and carrying a double portion of Elijah’s spirit.
The lesson here is this; leaders who remain focused will eventually find what they seek. Distractions emerge to take the leader off course but focus will keep him on track. Focus is at the root of the fulfilment of every vision. The leader who will succeed must recognise and resist distraction in any form or shape.
Prayer: Father, help me to stay focused.
