Leadership Lessons Daily: Day 309

Scripture Passage: Matthew 8:23-26
It is the Leader’s Responsibility to Calm the Storm
The Bible says concerning Jesus; “And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him. And behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish…Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and there was a great calm.”
The lesson here is this; it is the leader’s responsibility to calm the storm. No vision can be fulfilled in the midst of turmoil. A storm is intended to break the leader’s focus and create pandemonium amongst his followers so that the vision is abandoned. Therefore, the leader must address it immediately or the ship (vision or organisation) will sink. And since no one knows when chaos will ensue, the leader must live ready to confront it and restore calm.
Prayer: Father, help me take responsibility for calming uproar in my organisation / team.
