Leadership Lessons Daily: Day 323

Scripture Passage: Mark 14:33-50; 66-72
Every Great Leader Will Experience Seasons of Loneliness
On the night that Jesus was arrested, He took Peter, James and John with Him to pray. Thrice, He took a break from praying and discovered that they were sleeping. Then came Judas, another disciple, leading those who would arrest Him. As He was led away, the Bible says; “and they all forsook him and fled.” It was indeed a lonely night for Jesus.
The lesson here is this; every great leader will experience seasons of loneliness. This is a time when he is abandoned by those he thought would support him in the fulfilment of his vision. Jesus experienced seasons of loneliness. He was abandoned in prayer by Peter, James and John. He was betrayed by Judas. He was forsaken by all. And then denied by Peter. However, He set His eyes on the prize. In times of loneliness, the leader must keep his vision before him. He must remember the why in order to stay on track.
Prayer: Father, give me grace to go through seasons of loneliness.
