Leadership Lessons Daily: Day 333

Scripture Passage: John 2:24-25
A Good Leader Knows His Followers
The Bible says concerning Jesus, “But Jesus…..knew all men, and needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.” Another translation says, “But Jesus…..knew them all. There was no need for anyone to tell him about them, because he himself knew what was in their hearts.” As a leader, Jesus had an in-depth knowledge of His followers and required no further information.
The lesson here is this; a good leader knows his followers. He takes time to study them and know their strengths as well as their weaknesses. As a result, he knows their abilities and potentials. And he is able to place people where their talents will be properly utilised and developed. Managers make do with square pegs in round holes in order to get the job done. But a true leader takes the time and effort to know his square pegs and place them exactly where they belong, in square holes.
Prayer: Father, help me to study those I lead.
