Leadership Lessons Daily: Day 335

Scripture Passage: John 4:5-30
Leaders Sometimes Have to Break Barriers
Jesus was a leader who broke barriers. When the Samaritan woman met Jesus at the well, she was not expecting Him to speak to her because the Jews had no dealings with the Samaritans. Therefore, she was surprised when He asked her for a drink of water. This same woman later introduced Jesus and His ministry to an entire city. This would have been impossible if Jesus had not put reached out to her in spite of the social barrier that separated the Jews from the Samaritans.
The lesson here is this; leaders sometimes have to break barriers. Barriers exist everywhere that prevent leaders from reaching out to certain groups of people. And if those people are required by the leader to fulfil his vision, then he must remove the barriers. Such barriers may be physical, emotional or social. A leader’s ability to break these barriers will go a long way to determine how successful he will be in the realisation of his vision.
Prayer: Father, give me wisdom.
