DOZ Show Episode 54 – Sarah Fehr

Sarah Fehr is the guest in this episode of DOZ Show. Eight years ago, her son was born with a heart condition called Transposition of the Great Arteries. After his birth he underwent a 16 hour surgery. During the procedure his heart stopped beating and the surgeon had to reach in and manually pump the heart to get it working again. Three years later Sarah wrote her first book, Heart Scar, which is a children’s book detailing her son’s experience. Today, Sarah shares with us her journey through what was no doubt the darkest moments of her life when she didn’t know if her baby would live or die. DOZ Show Episode 53 – Irene Jones

She had a bad marriage. She was verbally and physically abused. She tried to make the marriage work, but as the abuse became worse, and the conditions unhealthy for her daughters, she knew it was time to leave and she did. She is rebuilding her life and using her journey to help others. DOZ Show Episode 52 – Author Nicki Jeffery

Author Nicki Jeffery is the guest in this episode of DOZ Show. She shares her journey to become a published author, a journey which began when she was a young child. Her very first rejection slip would inspire her to view rejection differently. It was from Cassandra Golds, who was assistant editor of School Magazine and was turning down Nicki’s work because the magazine did not publish children’s work. She said to Nicki in her letter, “I grew up to be a writer, and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if you do, too! I think you have some very exciting times ahead of you, Nicole – the joy of writing stories, the thrill of sending them off to people, perhaps even the delight of having them published. But remember, if you should happen to receive a rejection slip, even many, many rejection slips, don’t be discouraged – just try again!” With those words Nicki continued to pursue her dreams and has a folder full of rejection slips as evidence. But through the years her writing has been awarded at different times. In this interview she helps us see the blessing in rejection even as she speaks on using her writing to help many including mums suffering from post-natal depression, a condition she suffered from herself. DOZ Show Episode 51 – Omo Bello

Omo Bello is the guest in this episode of DOZ Show and if you’re a lover of classical music, then she requires no introduction! But for those who don’t know, Omo Bello is a highly sought after French Nigerian soprano opera singer who is passionate about singing and has entirely devoted herself to music. After a degree in Cell Biology and Genetics at the University of Lagos, Nigeria, she relocated to France where she studied at the Conservatoire de Paris. She also holds a diploma in singing performance from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, London and has been recognised for her singing, winning first prize at the Paris International Opera Competition, and many other competitions. So far, Omo has sung in over twenty countries. She shares her inspiring journey of pursuing her dreams against the odds. And of course, she doesn’t leave without singing Ave Maria by Charles Gounod. DOZ Show Episode 50 – Kemi Folarin

Kemi Folarin is the guest in this episode of DOZ Show. She is the founder of Young People Matter (YPM) Charity and Aspire to Elevate Training. Kemi started this charity more than a decade ago when she became fed up with seeing young people lose their lives on the street. She is very passionate about young people and seeing them live crimefree and purposeful lives. She has been commissioned by many multi-sector organisations and non-profits for her input and know-how in youth engagement. She was awarded ‘Most Dedicated Community Leader’ in 2014. Kemi was diagnosed dyslexic but she has not allowed this to stop her from chasing her dreams. Her life is an inspiration to the young people she serves. Years ago she took the plunge to follow her dream of becoming an author by writing a collection of cat stories to raise money for a shelter that cares for abused and abandoned cats. DOZ Show Episode 48 – Aiwan Obinyan

Aiwan Obinyan is our guest in DOZ Show Episode 48. She is a movie director and producer and is founder and CEO of AiAi Productions. She composes music for movies, TV, and commercials. In 2014, she released her first movie, “Bethlehem Boy,” a movie shot in London UK and produced on a zero-budget. She has just finished working on her second film project, “Wax Print Film,” a project which took her around the world in a bid to discover and uncover the history behind the beloved Ankara print. Aiwan is a determined young woman who will not be stopped by that which stops others. She has had many reasons to fail but accepted none of them.
