DOZ Show Episode 76 – Debbie Mars

Debbie Mars is the guest in this episode of DOZ Show. She is the CEO of Gifted by Dezyn, an innovative and thematic promotional products and services agency, which is also an emerging business partner with the NFL. She has over 25 years’ experience in brand and promotional marketing and has held various positions in brand marketing, consumer promotions and minority business development with General Mills, Coca-Cola and FritoLay corporations. She is a writer and author of the book, Death of a Fairy Tale, which was released following her divorce. Debbie says she was not defeated by the ending of her marriage, but was renewed as a woman. This woman has faced many battles from divorce to a heart attack and survived them all. She shares with us her journey, battles and victories. Her first book “Souls of My Sisters,” a compilation of women’s stories, had her share pages with the likes of Mary J. Blige and Patti Labelle. She has a new book titled “Take2 Steps to Rejoining your Life.” This book birth her Take2 movement to encourage people not to stop where IT happened. Tanya has worked in the broadcast industry for more than 25 years with HBO and Time Warner. In this interview, she shares how she landed the job with HBO and Time Warner, what she loved and misses about it and how it changed and shaped her life. But amidst the glitz and glam provided by a career in the entertainment industry, Tanya faced personal challenges and knows first hand what it means to lose everything, every single thing except your life. Minister Sherilyn Bennett is the guest in this episode of DOZ Show. She is an advocate for female entrepreneurs of faith, and an accomplished and sought after speaker and award-winning graphic designer and branding expert. Sherilyn travels extensively in the USA ministering to women about living their faith out loud without apology. She believes that women were created with everything they need to walk in purpose. She is the celebrated author of “It’s Time for a Village Meeting: Awakening Moms, Reclaiming Our Girls” and the soon-to-be-released book, “Pink Slip: A Faith Leap Into Entrepreneurship!”  Sherilyn is the CEO of Camden Lane Creative Agency, a full-service corporate design and branding agency. This is a business she began after losing her job. In this interview, she shares how her initial failure in business left her too scared to try again until she was laid off from her job. At that point she decided it was time to sink or swim and invested her severance pay in a business. She had hit rock bottom, and with no other place to go, she began to go up, and to demonstrate to other women that it is possible, and okay to thrive in business.

Dr. Yolanda Jerry is the guest in this episode of DOZ Show. She is a retired Air Force veteran, speaker, author, coach, and entrepreneur. She coaches inspires and empowers victims/survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and youth bullying. Yolanda shares her story as a sexual assault and domestic violence survivor and what it takes to no longer be a victim but a Victor! She is the Founder and CEO of YJ Empowerment Solutions, LLC. Walking away from an abusive marriage did not come easy for her, and she knows firsthand and explains why many women prefer to remain in abusive relationships. The most potent lesson she took away from that season of her life is the fact that she can Get Back Up! DOZ Show Episode 71 – Barrister Iryn Omorogiuwa

Barrister Iryn Omorogiuwa is the guest in this episode of DOZ Show. She is a lawyer and member of the Nigerian Bar Association. Also, she is the state counsel Ministry of Justice Edo State Nigeria and chairperson International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Edo State Nigeria. Iryn shares her journey to realising her childhood dream of becoming a lawyer and a voice for the oppressed in society. It was not an easy journey. Her father died just as she gained admission to university to study law and she became discouraged because he would never see her dream materialise. But she carried on as she understood that she wanted to be a lawyer for herself and no one else. Then came the financial hardships, which typically follow the demise of most fathers, but Iryn would find a way to achieve her goal despite not always having what she required for the journey. Today she is not only a lawyer, but she is a solid voice for the oppressed. Listen to Iryn and be inspired to have your dreams against the odds.

DOZ Show Episode 70 – Uche Anyanwagu MD PhD

Uche Anyanwagu is the guest in this episode of DOZ Show. He (yes, that’s right) is an Associate Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the School of Medicine, University of Nottingham. He researches Clinical Epidemiology focusing on Cardiovascular and Metabolic events associated with the use of Insulin and novel glucose-lowering agents in Type 2 Diabetes. Also, he is a creative writer, poet, and social critic and takes pleasure in using simple stories about everyday situations to provoke a change in people’s mindsets and assessment of their well-being. As a young child observing his father’s ailing health, he made a promise to his dad that he would become a doctor and cure him of diabetes. His father would die shortly after this pronouncement but Uche would go on to fulfil his promise against all odds and in 2017 win the nomination for the best research in Type 2 Diabetes in the UK. This man had limited opportunities as he pursued his dreams but what opportunities he did have he maximised. Listen as Uche shares his journey of going from the rural parts of Nigeria to the UK where he obtained a PhD and of course paid a visit to the Queen of England. His journey and success are proof that our limitations are only in our mind.  Be inspired!
