DOZ Show Episode 116 – Jackqueline Mondo Apinyi

Jackqueline Mondo Apinyi is the guest in this episode of DOZ Show. She was born in Uganda and raised in Kenya after her family fled the civil war of Uganda in 1979. Her family had humble beginnings, her mother was an early years teacher and her father a soldier who rose to the rank of Major General. At the age of 15, her father took a post in Russia and sent her along with her siblings to boarding school in the UK. Adjusting to the UK system of education was challenging for her and it didn’t help that she had no friends. The teachers said she was dull and would be a better off as a homemaker. Jackqueline experienced rejection and sibling rivalry and was constantly seeking acceptance by bleaching her skin and looking for love in all the wrong places. Her self-esteem was affected. But her esteem soared when she was able to finish university and get married, two things she had been told repeatedly would never happen. But adversity was not done with her, over the years she has lost a child to heart defect, received the shocking news that her children were autistic, survived stroke and heart surgery, and a six-year separation from her husband. But she is standing strong and has founded Woman Arise and Be Healed, a platform through which she encourages women who are going through trauma or have been through traumatic experiences. Listen to Jackqueline and be inspired to rise from the ashes.
