DOZ Show Episode 71 – Barrister Iryn Omorogiuwa

Barrister Iryn Omorogiuwa is the guest in this episode of DOZ Show. She is a lawyer and member of the Nigerian Bar Association. Also, she is the state counsel Ministry of Justice Edo State Nigeria and chairperson International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Edo State Nigeria. Iryn shares her journey to realising her childhood dream of becoming a lawyer and a voice for the oppressed in society. It was not an easy journey. Her father died just as she gained admission to university to study law and she became discouraged because he would never see her dream materialise. But she carried on as she understood that she wanted to be a lawyer for herself and no one else. Then came the financial hardships, which typically follow the demise of most fathers, but Iryn would find a way to achieve her goal despite not always having what she required for the journey. DOZ Show Episode 70 – Uche Anyanwagu MD PhD

Uche Anyanwagu is the guest in this episode of DOZ Show. He (yes, that’s right) is an Associate Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the School of Medicine, University of Nottingham. He researches Clinical Epidemiology focusing on Cardiovascular and Metabolic events associated with the use of Insulin and novel glucose-lowering agents in Type 2 Diabetes. Also, he is a creative writer, poet, and social critic and takes pleasure in using simple stories about everyday situations to provoke a change in people’s mindsets and assessment of their well-being. As a young child observing his father’s ailing health, he made a promise to his dad that he would become a doctor and cure him of diabetes. His father would die shortly after this pronouncement but Uche would go on to fulfil his promise against all odds and in 2017 win the nomination for the best research in Type 2 Diabetes in the UK. This man had limited opportunities as he pursued his dreams but what opportunities he did have he maximised. Listen as Uche shares his journey of going from the rural parts of Nigeria to the UK where he obtained a PhD and of course paid a visit to the Queen of England. She successfully earned her Doctor of Pharmacy Degree in 2004 and holds American Pharmacists Association Certifications in Delivering Medication Therapy Management and Pharmacist-Based Immunization Delivery. She established her business, Scripts & Beyond LLC, in response to the changing patterns in health care, especially after observing the devastating effects of people not understanding their medications. She seeks to bridge the gaps in information and understanding and to simplify the complex when it comes to medication lists. She is also a writer and has just released her first book titled, At The End Of The Day: Take It Personally.
