Scripture Passage: Genesis 16:1-5
When the Leader Hearkens to the Follower Problems Arise
A leader should listen to the opinions and advice of those he leads, but if he does so when it is contrary to his vision, problems are bound to arise. Abraham had a vision given to him by God. It was clear, that he would have a child in his old age and that child would be borne by Sarah his wife. Contrary to this vision, Sarah advised Abraham to have a child with her maid, Hagar. Abraham hearkened and it was the beginning of trouble for them.
The lesson here is this; a leader should be guided by his vision and be wary of any advice that is not in line with the vision.
Prayer: Father, give me the grace to keep my vision before me and refuse all forms of distraction.
