Scripture Passage: Numbers 27:1-8
Anyone Can Lead
Zelophehad’s five daughters, Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah and Tirzah, stood before Moses and the entire congregation and demanded to be given an inheritance amongst men. They said, “Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he hath no son? Give unto us therefore a possession among the brethren of our father.” They were women, they were fatherless and they were unmarried. They had no male to protect them but that did not stop them or intimidate them. Their father had not been an influential member of the congregation but that did not deter them. Their father lived and died in the crowd but they stood out of the crowd like true leaders.
The lesson here is this; leading has nothing to do with gender, age, or ethnicity. Leading has nothing to do with title, position or social status. It is not the sole preserve of a fortunate few. Anyone can lead.
Prayer: Father, give me the grace to lead.
