Scripture Passage: Exodus 5:1-21
At the First Sign of Trouble, the Leader Will Be Criticised
When Moses communicated the vision to the children of Israel, it was very well received and no doubt the Israelites saw themselves as being already free from Egyptian bondage. However, when Moses went in to speak with Pharaoh, the result of that meeting was completely different from the expectations of the children of Israel. Instead of being set free, their burden was increased. In frustration, the children of Israel turned to Moses and Aaron and criticised them; at this point, they had lost all enthusiasm for the vision.
The lesson here is this; although the people receive the vision with great joy, when communicated, they will turn against the leader and criticise him at the first sign of trouble.
Prayer: Father, help me to stay on course with the vision even amid adversity and criticism.
