Scripture Passage: Exodus 18:1-25
You Can’t Do It All Alone
Moses had an unexpected visit from his father-in-law, Jethro while in the wilderness. During this visit, Jethro observed that Moses alone sat in judgment over the entire congregation of Israel, judging all matters great and small, from morning until evening. Jethro advised him to appoint other judges who would judge smaller matters and bring to Moses’ attention only the big matters. This arrangement would not only save time it would also conserve the energy of Moses for other activities. The Bible says, “So Moses hearkened to the voice of his father-in-law, and did all that he had said.”
The lesson here is this; you can’t do it all alone, no one can, therefore a wise leader delegates certain tasks to others. It will not only free you to do other things and save you valuable time, it will also do your health good.
Prayer: Father, teach me to delegate.
