Scripture Passage: Exodus 32:15-24
Weak Leaders Pass the Buck
When Moses came down from the mount and saw the golden calf, he was very angry and destroyed it. Then he turned to Aaron and said, “What did this people unto thee, that thou hast brought so great a sin upon them?” Aaron turned around and blamed the people, completely exonerating himself from the matter. He said, “Thou knowest the people, that they are set on mischief. For they said unto me make us gods, which shall go before us.” He failed to realise that as deputy leader standing in for Moses, he had the power to dissuade the people. Not once did he accept responsibility for failing to do so.
The lesson here is this; a strong leader will share the credit but accept the blame when things go wrong. However, a weak leader will take all the credit and pass the blame to the people when things fail.
Prayer: Father, help me to be a strong leader.
