Scripture Passage: Numbers 12:3
Meekness is a Requirement for Great Leadership
Moses led a mixed multitude of three million people out of Egypt. That is three million murmuring and complaining people who were ungrateful and unmindful of his personal sacrifice. How did he achieve it? The Bible says, “Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.” Meek means to be gentle and to show patience and humility. We see a display of meekness when he listens to his father-in-law’s counsel and also in his response to the constant rebellion of the children of Israel. Without meekness, it is clear he would not have accomplished much.
The lesson is this; meekness is a requirement for everyone who desires to lead people as people are naturally difficult. And the more followers a leader has, the more meekness he will require to successfully fulfil the vision.
Prayer: Father, help me to be meek like Moses.
