Scripture Passage: Numbers 20:1-5
The People Will Be Ungrateful
When Israel entered into the desert of Zin, one more time, the entire congregation murmured against Moses and Aaron. They said, “And wherefore have ye made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us into this evil place? It is no place of seed, or figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink.” Notice that from the time they left Egypt, up until this point, no one acknowledged Moses’ personal sacrifice in bringing them out of bondage. No one expressed any gratitude to him. They only murmured, complained and criticised.
The lesson here is this; in spite of everything the leader does, the people will remain ungrateful. They will choose to see what the leader has not done or what he has done wrong and will remain blind, by choice, to all that the leader has done right and all that he has sacrificed for their good.
Prayer: Father, give me wisdom to handle ingratitude in those I lead.
