Scripture Passage: Numbers 27:1-8
Leaders Fight for Causes Bigger Than Themselves
The five daughters of Zelophehad, Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah and Tirzah, fought for a worthy cause. To ensure their father’s name was not wiped out from Israel because he had no son. They asked Moses, “Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he hath no son? Give unto us therefore a possession among the brethren of our father.” They fought to retain their father’s name among his tribe and they were victorious.
The lesson here is this; leaders look past their needs to the needs of those around them. They seek to make the world a better place for everyone. Therefore, they are always involved in causes that are greater than themselves.
Prayer: Father, give me grace to fight for causes that are worthy and bigger than me.
